Hurricane Helene brought catastrophic devastation of historic proportions to western North Carolina. In a briefing on Sunday afternoon, Governor Cooper confirmed more than 30 people have died in Buncombe County alone with more than 600 people still missing. Pictures continue to come out that tell the story of the devastation in that region and that includes roads that are washed away or severely damaged making travel to our mountains treacherous.
