On Thursday the UNC Board of Governors awarded the 2024 Oliver Max Gardner Award to Dr. Craig Yencho an NC State researcher who has cultivated community and economic stability through his groundbreaking research on sweet potatoes. The Gardner Award recognizes faculty who have made "the greatest contribution to the welfare of the human race." Dr. Yencho is kind enough to speak with Chris Edwards about this award and his work with sweet potatoes.
