Getting back on track after the holidays can be a struggle. Amy Shapiro MS, RD, CDN, offers simple tips for realizing your health and weight loss goals this year. Many people overindulge during the holiday season but recognize it and are motivated to get back on track on January 1.However, it can be difficult to get started and maintain desired healthy habits. Amy Shapiro MS, RD, CDN, advises focusing on a few things you know you can succeed at so you realize changes quickly and then build upon them. Three achievable goals she suggests are:
Make sure you're meeting your water goals. This decreases bloating and increases energy, as well as helps reset your metabolism.
Fill half your plate with vegetables at every meal.
Cut out "white" foods, such as breads, crackers, French fries, etc.
In terms of doing a detox, Amy believes the body knows how to detox itself but that water consumption is a key part of allowing it to do it's job. Intermittent fasting (IF) is also an effective option, but it's important to ensure you're getting all your nutrients in during your eating window. Listen as Amy joins Dr. Taz to discuss additional ways to reset your metabolism and help you achieve all your health and weight loss goals in 2019.
