Hello everybody and thank you for turning into the 48th episode of the Wedding Songs Podcast. I am Matt Campbell and today I will be talking about the 22 New songs, that could be considered wedding songs, released in May 2021. For those first-timers, unfortunately, due to copyright laws we cannot play the songs but you can sample them on our website MyWeddingSongs.com and go to charts then Best New songs. If you have any questions about the songs on the list you can reach out to me on the website. While you're there, make sure you subscribe to our monthly newsletter. Just go to the main menu and click on subscribe, and then you'll be signed up for a monthly newsletter of all the new wedding songs released in the prior month that you could play at your wedding. Just like we do every month, I am going to go ahead and get started.
In chronological order starting with the oldest first, we have “Never Been In Love” by Haley Mae Campbell. A lot of women in Country music do not get a lot of respect so I have to through this in there because it does make for a great wedding song. Lyrics include…never knew I could laugh, till I couldn’t breathe, never knew I could show someone all of me, things are better than they ever been, you make me feel like I’ve never been in love. Go ahead and check out that great new song by a female artist. Next up we have a couple of songs because May features Mother’s Day and a lot of Mother songs get released in May. The first one, released May 7th, is by Tainted Lyric called “Mama Was Daddy Too”. So if you have a bride or groom who was raised only by their mother, then this makes for a great mother-child dance song. Because some men are known as mama’s boys, then released on May 7th as well, is Ryan Griffin with his song “Mama's Boy”. This could be a fun song to play during the mother-son dance at your reception. If you are looking for a more serious song, Chris Lane released “That’s What Mama’s Are For” on May 7th. This is probably my favorite for a traditional mother-son dance.
Released on May 8th is Phil Socci with “For The Rest Of My Life”. This is an independent Folksy song you could play as your first dance, or even incorporate into the wedding ceremony. Recently we just had the finale of American Idol 2021 and two of the finalists I have next up on our list. Both released on May 14th. The first one was the runner-up, Grace Kinstler with her song “Love Someone”. It is a little slower, a little more emotional, so maybe one you could have as a background song during the reception or cocktail hour. The next one is a little more upbeat, called “20000 Kisses” by Hunter Metts. This is going to keep the mood up and I really like this as a dinner song because, after the pandemic, everyone is wanting to party again. I think keeping the mood up is really important. Lastly, a former American Idol winner, Laine Hardy released “Memorize You” also released on May 14th. American Idol is trying to capitalize on the finale and this is a great Country song, a little mid-tempo that you could play during cocktails or dinner.
Jason Aldean released a cover song, which is an Amazon original, called “Heaven” which was first released in the 80s by Bryan Adams, This is a great cover of a Country song that was formerly a Pop Rock song. If you have 80s Country fans in attendance, this is one to play. Alan Jackson recently released a bunch of songs for his daughters wedding.
