Botham Jean was sitting on the sofa in his flat with an ice cream and watching sports when he was shot. The shooter was police officer Amber Guyger. She had entered the wrong flat of her apartment building after work, found Botham on the sofa and mistook him for a burglar. The question raised at the trial was whether Amber Guyger really did have to fear for her life in the situation or whether she had recklessly fired her gun, killing Botham Jean.
