Today is National Kindergarten Day, celebrating the birthday of Friedrich Froebel, who established the first kindergarten in 1837. It's a wonderful day to honor the joy and creativity that kindergarten brings into the lives of children. Today's quote is from Robert Fulghum:
"All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten."
This phrase beautifully captures the essence of what today is all about. In kindergarten, children learn the basics that guide them through life: share everything, play fair, don't hit people, put things back where you found them, clean up your own mess, and, importantly, cookies and naps are a must! Fulghum’s words remind us that the simple lessons from the early years are the foundations of lifelong principles.
As adults, we often complicate things, but maybe today, we can take a step back and appreciate the simplicity and fundamental truths taught in those early, formative years. Let’s challenge ourselves today to apply these kindergarten rules in our daily lives. Share your time with someone, play fair in all your dealings, and maybe indulge in a cookie and a nap. Sometimes, embracing our inner child can bring us back to what’s really important. T
