Feelings can be overwhelming. They come out of nowhere, and many want to stick around permanently. If we allow our feelings to run the show, one feeling after the other will toss us around like a rowboat in the ocean. There is a way to honor and respect feelings but override their tendency to send us into sadness, despair, and depression. Even when the anniversary of Jamie's murder approaches, I use a few techniques to ensure that I don't allow my feelings to dictate my life.
