Midlife Purpose Project: Bringing women clarity and peace with yoga philosophy, mindfulness and spirituality. • E45. Self Compassion Minisode • Listen on Fountain
Self Compassion is the ability to be kind and loving toward outselves when we experience set back, faliures and challenges in our lives.
It requires that we become aware of the feelings we are having and why, a recognition that we are not alone in these experiences. We are all part of the human experience. Lastly is requires that we speak to ourselves in kindness, love and compassion.
Research shows that self compassion decreases depression and anxiety, creates a growth mindset, improves our grit and allows us to accept ourselves as we are. When we can recognize and accept our own flaws and shortcomings, it helps us do the same for others, improving our relationships.
Self compassion is a practice. It takes time to make this your default setting. Keep coming back to it over and over and have patience with yourself.
Love To You!
