As November's US presidential election approaches an army of volunteer 'hackers' are offering their expertise to local election offices to help prevent a wide range of cyber-attacks. There are many local digital vote tampering threats, from interfering with electoral roles to positing misinformation about polling stations. We speak with organiser Maya Worman from the Chicago Harris Cyber Policy initiative. Electrical chemistry is key to a new way of analysing sleep patterns. Chemists have built sensors into a face mask to measure eye movement. They combined this with a pyjama top loaded with respiratory and motion sensors.
