The first is just in time learning, which is the idea that you only learn the things you need in order to take your next step. Balancing that is the twenty percent itch rule, which is the idea that I set aside twenty percent of my time each week to experiment and try new things. That way I still get to scratch that itch and explore some new things while keeping focused on what I have to do here and now with the other eighty percent of my time.
