Recovery requires both skill acquisition and character development, however both are acquired through different means. Skills are taught, which means anyone can develop the necessary abilities to make a full recovery. Meanwhile character is caught, in other words, it is most developed by being around people of good character (ref 1 Corinthians 15:33). You must be certain that your recovery approach does not confuse the two – skills are not caught, and character is not best taught. Ideally, your recovery solution will involve a conglomerate of both – learning skills while being surrounded by men of character that are able to push you in both areas.
