Today we are joined by Jason Sibble to talk Spring bear hunting in the mountain west. Jason is a resident of Montana and walks us through the strategies for a beginner bear hunter in regards to digital scouting and how to locate black bears in the field. One strategy that Jason uses is spending time prior to season contacting state game officials and local biologists in the areas he is considering hunting so that he can find units with higher concentration of black bears.
We also discuss which areas of mountain topography hold the most animals during May and April while bear season is in full swing. Jason also describes the ideal scenario for getting into bow range and what setups he looks for to increase the odds in his favor. We also talk about private land hunting and how Jason has been able to gain access to thousands of acres of privately owned ranches to hunt bears for free. If you're planning an upcoming hunt or bear hunting is on your bucket list, you won’t want to miss this episode!
