Rudy Ruettiger’s life story inspired the major motion picture RUDY. After struggling to finally get accepted as a student into Notre Dame University, against all odds, Rudy made the Notre Dame football team as an undersized walk-on. However, on the only play of the only game he ever played in, Rudy sacked the quarterback and was then carried off the field on the shoulders of his teammates. That story led to one of the all-time great movies where Rudy was played by Sean Astin in the 1993 sports film. USA Today actually ranked RUDY as the #1 ‘Best Football Movie of All Time’.
