Stop Talking About What's Not Working
When we encounter challenges or difficulties, it's common to dwell on them and talk about them with others, often allowing them to consume our thoughts. Al-Anon- Illusion we can Change Others and Admitting we are Powerless
I was inspired by a question from Al-Anon's workbook 'Reaching for Personal Freedom' in the chapter for Step One that read "What keeps me holding onto the illusion that I have the power to change someone else?"Seeing that it is only an illusion that we can change others is a crucial step in achieving personal freedom and growth. It is natural to want to help those we care about and to try to change their behaviors or situations that we see as harmful or negative. However, the truth is that we c

Why We Hold onto our Pain and how to Let it Go
We all have pain, that is part of being human. What do we do with this suffering and pain? Do we allow it move through us teaching us what we need to learn? Seek NOT Outside Yourself for Happiness
For most of my life I was looking to the outside for happiness. I needed and wanted my family, my job, my friends, money, clothes... you name it to make me happy and feel content. How to Process Your Feelings in a Healthy Way in Soul Recovery

In the last episode "I am Married to an Alcoholic" I shared that I had thought my husband was with me on the journey of living an alcohol free life and dedicated to recovery. I am Married to an Alcoholic
"We don't drink." I told a friend as we planning to meet up with them in Mexico for vacation. In the first few days my husband shared that for the last few years he has been 'dabbling' with drinking and intended to drink on this vacation. I had thought that we were both sober. I was so grateful for my own sobriety and my Soul Recovery so that I could process this information clearly and remember that I can not control anyone or any circumstance outside of myself. Being an addict is not easy,
Learning to Not be a People Pleaser
Prior to Soul Recovery I used to say "If you are okay, then I can be okay." This is a foundational belief of being a People Pleaser where you put others needs and preferences over your own. Many of us may not even realize we are doing this, or how it is causing us internal anxiety and pain. I have been working on this on my Soul Recovery journey and was taken by surprise on my trip to Mexico with my Mom and Husband at how easily I fell back into old patters of feeling I was responsible for th
Expectations, Disappointment and Acceptance in Soul Recovery
My 'working' vacation in Mexico in October turned out to be a great opportunity for reflection and to practice my Soul Recovery spiritual tools. I was immediately caught off guard by my unrealistic expectations of what I had envisioned when planning and thinking about the vacation. I felt irritated and disappointed in the first days and had an opportunity to dig in and do some Soul Recovery- make a pivot into acceptance and surrender which allowed me to not only accept but enjoy it as it was.
Soul Recovery Tips to Stay Clam During a Challenge
I had asked the Patreon Members for what they wanted to hear more about- Kellye and Stacey had similar questions about how to stay calm and centered when faced with challenges. "I would love to hear more about staying calm and turning within, when faced with a challenge. I sometimes get out of control quickly and start to spiral into panic mode, completely forgetting that I have Higher Power right here to guide me. It's like I need something to smack me and say 'snap out of it!' " In this

Be the Change You Want to See
When we are waiting for the other person to change, waiting for them to step up and do things differently we feel only resentment and frustration. In this episode we talk about the importance of taking control in the only place you have it, with yourself, and being the change you want to see in others and the world. Choosing our own happiness and being first to offer others what we need along with clear communication, we can leave frustration behind. For more information about Rev. Rachel Harr

Steps for Building a Foundation of Self-Love
I was inspired by the quote "Love for others without the foundation of self love becomes a loss of boundaries, codependence, (addiction), and a painful and fruitless search for intimacy." (Sharon Salzburg, Loving Kindness - The Revolutionary Art of Happiness)We may not have been given this foundation of self-love that we wanted or needed, however we can always go back and reinforce that foundation in our spiritual house. Soul Recovery is about turning the attention to ourselves and choosing a

Erin Livingston - Surviving Cancer the Support of Higher Power and Following her Dreams
I wanted to interview Erin because she has such a powerful story of Soul Recovery. A cancer diagnosis at 38 years old in 2019 offered her choice. Stay where she was in life that was easy and good or listen to her heart and follow her deepest desires and live her best life? I have been inspired by her journey and how she has allowed Higher Power to lead her along the way to live her best life. As mentioned in the episode, her new path has lead her to become a Death and Dying Doula and Teacher.

The Spiritual Gift of Impermanence and Embracing the Seasons of Change
Impermanence teaches that everything changes and nothing lasts forever. We can either see this as a spiritual gift or we can be in discomfort and resistance- it is our choice. There are seasons of change in nature and in our lives and both are important parts of the cycle of life. Soul Recovery teaches us to be open to impermanence, and embrace the seasons of change in our own lives by turning the attention to ourselves and letting go of control. Forgive and You Will Live Differently
In the old school of forgiveness one person says they are sorry and the other person forgives them - just to get on with it. This old way of forgiveness can mean that we are actually pushing down our feelings and allowing a resentment or pain to continue to fester in our emotional system. In Soul Recovery we are taking care of ourselves and clearing out our emotional system and truly letting go of those old pains that can be making us physically or spiritually sick. Forgiveness from a Soul Re
If I am not the problem, there is no solution... how to see your part and make a change
Taking responsibility for our part in any situation takes courage and humility. When we recognize that we play a role, big or small, in any problem we can choose how we respond and become part of the solution. When we turn the attention to ourselves, and make even small changes in how we interact with the people around us- how we choose to see the situation, we become a catalyst for positive change. What a powerful realization and powerful tool in our Soul Recovery Journey. For more informat
Releasing Competition by Choosing Connection
In looking back on my life and recognizing the shadows, I see that I felt the need to compare and compete as I looked for my value, especially in my work environments. It was easier to be frustrated with other people and blame them for my being unhappy than it was for me to take an honest look at myself and feel my own self-worth. I came across a powerful spiritual tool that helped me to change my way of seeing things and let go of competing and comparing with others and allowed me to connect o
How to Get What You Want
In my darkness I had thought that I would be happy if I just had what I wanted the way I wanted it. In Soul Recovery we are learning to connect to our higher power and to follow a spiritual path to a happy and healthy life. When I changed my perception and learned to find happiness within myself first, I was amazed at how things on the outside started to line up and provide even more than I had thought I wanted in the first place. Getting off the Emotional Battlefield and Choosing Happiness
The emotional battlefield doesn't have a winner, and most of the time we are not even aware that we are on the attack. We all desire to be seen, heard and supported. However, this can be hard to achieve when both sides are on the defense as they try to prove their point, control the situation, or be right. In Soul Recovery we are learning to change our perception, turn the attention to ourselves and take responsibility for our reactions and emotions. We can make huge changes in our relationsh

Control Issues- The Source of our Suffering and How to Take Our Power Back
Soul Recovery has a foundation of recognizing that our desire to have control of people or outcomes has caused us suffering. At first it feels like the world will fall apart if we let it all go, but slowly we realize that we are powerless over everything outside of ourselves, and that by letting go we are finding a new freedom and connection to Higher Power and ourselves. When we need others to be a certain way, we are giving them control of our emotional well being. So, by honestly looking

Speaking from a Spiritually Strong Voice in Soul Recovery
In Soul Recovery we are learning the value and importance of our voice and how, and when to use it. For some of us, we learned to not speak up for fear of being shut down or upsetting people, for others we have used our voice as a weapon to keep us safe from being hurt. In this episode we take a look at old and unhealthy ways of using our voice, and how to begin to make different choices in communication. We also explore the importance of finding your voice and being able to communicate clear

The Myth of Happily Ever After - Finding Happiness within Yourself
The fairy tails end with "and they lived happily ever after..." From the time we were young we are being influenced with false beliefs that there is some form of perfection that we need to live up to. This skewed and unrealistic perception sets us up for not being happy with what we have, wanting it to be what we read in the story books, or saw on the movie screen. However, that does not mean that there is not beauty and joy in our lives as they are, that there will not be issues that we wil

Releasing Guilt for Ourselves and Others and not Dragging Around the Pain of the Past
Guilt, shame and blame are what keep us from connection to our Higher Power and following our spiritual path to a happy and healthy life. Saying 'let it go' is easy, actually allowing ourselves to stop feeling guilty about our past, and punishing others for their past is Soul Recovery. Letting go of Feeling Responsible for Others Lives... and Recovery
There is a time in our lives when we are picking up more and more responsibility for all the right reasons- family, work, and play. It is not a bad thing to be a responsible person. However, for many of us, we take that responsibility too far and believe that we are responsible for other's lives, emotions, well being, and even their recovery. This is when our desire to fix and control others has gotten out of hand and we begin to feel the weight of holding onto a burden that is not ours and our

It is as I Choose to See it- Learning to Change Perception
In Soul Recovery we turn the attention to our selves knowing that with inner change- outer change in our lives will follow. In a moment of stress recently, I asked Higher Power to help me see the situation differently. The words that came to me were... "It is as I choose to see it." This was clearly a foundational message of Soul Recovery. We can choose how we are going to see the world around us. Will you choose Love or Fear. For more information about Rev. My Son Bodhi Harrison- A Story of Spirituality, Addiction and trying to find Life Balance at 23
Being an addict has been a hard journey. Having addicted children has been painful too. Al-Anon and Soul Recovery have taught me to turn the attention to myself and to focus on my personal recovery, and allow those around me to have their own experience. Releasing Blame for Others and Ourselves in Soul Recovery
Blame has two sides- the side where we blame others for our lives, and wanting them to be different for us to be happy. The other is blaming ourselves for how other people's lives are or have turning out. Both sides of the blame coin can rob us from being happy because we are allowing the need for control to get in the way. Soul Recovery is about learning to turn the attention to ourselves and our personal Soul Recovery- letting go of both sides of blame and finding peace in ourselves and in o
Rediscovering your Self-Worth and Self-Esteem in Soul Recovery
In Soul Recovery we are given an opportunity to rediscovery who we are without all the interference of negative outside influence. Most of us have taken our value from what others think of us, needing validation, approval and even permission from others. Self-Worth, Self-Esteem and happiness are inside jobs, however recognizing this and taking the steps to rediscover who you really are in a health way takes patience, grace and awareness. You are worthy and deserving of happiness and a wonderfu
Using your Superpowers.... Spiritual Power & Strength in Soul Recovery

Soul Recovery is a Spiritual Path to a happy and healthy life, and so this episode is about our Spiritual Superpowers. My Son Alex's Soul Recovery- Finding his own way, love for himself and a new solution
Having a child with addiction is not easy for any parent. My Son had the genetics for drug and alcohol addiction and was raised by alcoholic parents, so it is not surprising that this has been an issue in his life. As a recovered addict, it has been painful to watch his life be difficult as I worked my Soul Recovery to let him find his own path. The great news is that since the beginning of the year Alex has made a change in his life and found a new love for himself and better a solution for
Al-Anon - How can I get them to Stop Drinking?
The first time I stepped into an Al-Anon meeting I was hoping to learn how to get my husband to stop drinking, my son to stop using and get some support for my unhappiness. What I found was something even better... I rediscovered myself and the ability to be happy even when those around me are not. Soul Recovery is a combination of what I learned in Alanon and through my spiritual studies. It is a spiritual path where we turn the attention to ourselves, our own recovery and let go of all that
Dreams or Decisions....How to Communicate Better and not be a Dream Killer
My husband used to tell me that I was a 'being a dream killer' when he would share his ideas on home remodels. I thought I was being practical. It was like we were speaking different languages and there always ended up being hurt between us. Then I learned that we were indeed speaking different languages- he was speaking 'dream' and I was speaking 'decision', no wonder we were both so frustrated. Once we had clarity about dreams vs decisions, everything changed for us and how we could shar
Making Amends in Soul Recovery - A Spiritual Path to Releasing the Past
It can be hard to see how we may have harmed someone or why we should make an amend when we feel deeply hurt by others in our lives. In this episode we talk about how amends offer healing in our Soul Recovery Journey. When we can take responsibility for all of our behaviors as we continue to turn the attention to ourselves, we open to even deeper self forgiveness and peace in our lives. We may not have any control of anything outside of ourselves, but we can clean up our side of the street an
Improving Your Marriage and Raising Kids without Triangulation by Learning to let go of Control
Marriage and raising children is hard no matter what. Add addiction and control issues to the mix and it can be painful for everyone involved and tear a family apart. In this episode I talk about the experience we had in our family and the part I played in the triangulation that only increased the disfunction between my husband, myself and our kids. In Soul Recovery, we turn the attention to ourselves, let go of control and allow others to be themselves- healing the family dynamics.I have inc

It's Time to Update Old Belief Systems that are Holding You Back
Everything we think, feel and do is funneled through the belief systems we have about ourselves. We may not even actually know what those beliefs are, but it is likely that they are still holding you back because they are based on fear. What is Your Emotional Guidance System Telling You?
I spent many years afraid to actually feel emotions for fear that they would be too painful. When I started my Soul Recovery, I discovered that there is great blessings and power in allowing those emotions, and that they are actually helping to guide me along my path. I realized that we have an Emotional Guidance System and we can use it like our GPS to give us directions and choose our final destination- love or fear. For more information about Rev. How to Relieve Anxiety in Soul Recovery
Many of us are plagued with persistent and excessive worry and fear- otherwise known as anxiety. It is a word we throw around and even claim as who we are. In Soul Recovery we are learning to let go of fear and worry and begin to trust that a power greater than ourselves is guiding us- even when times are difficult or feel overwhelming. It is not easy, but we can slowly begin to do the work of Soul Recovery to ease the grip of anxiety and find a way to be with what is- knowing that you have th
Rev. Rachel speaks at Columbine on Berne Brown's The Gifts of Imperfection Guide Post- Creativity and Spirituality
I wanted to share the talk I gave as the Minster at my Spiritual Center inspired by 'The Gifts of Imperfection' by Berne Brown. The topic was the 6th guidepost of the gifts: Creativity. I love that Berne invites us to be venerable, authentic, and...imperfect. You may say "I am not creative", but I disagree- we are ALL creative in our own unique and special ways if we open up to them and let go of comparison. If They Would Change... I would be Happy. Letting go of Codependence
Our suffering and discomfort often comes from our wish for others to change or be or do things differently. We think that if they would just change we could finally be happy. However, when we put the emphasis on others to change for us to be happy, we are giving our power away to where we have no control. By turning the attention to ourselves, and being responsible for our own happiness our lives can change drastically. We can't make someone stop drinking, or behaving in destructive ways-
Listening to the Guidance of Higher Power and Following Your Heart
What does it mean to trust Higher Power and to listen to the guidance that is being given to each of us the unique an amazing souls we are? We are often afraid to follow the guidance because our judge and inner critic is trying to keep us from stepping out into the unknown that is uncertain and out of our control. In this episode I explore that that the ideas we have, the ones that are driving us to our full potential and purpose are being given to us by our Higher Power- and we can begin to l
Seeing our Blind Spots- An Opportunity for Soul Recovery

Having Hope - Rachel Celebrating 4 Years of Sobriety and Soul Recovery
"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we'll ever do." Berne Brown4 years ago I was in a depression and had lost hope for a better life. I was deep in my addictions of drinking, codependence, people pleasing and trying to control world around me. Then I took the brave step into Soul Recovery- this was the start of learning to love myself and remember tha
Releasing Resentments with Gretchen Stecher, MA
Gretchen Stecher, MA is a Somatic Psychotherapist and has been in recovery for over 20 years, so she has personally been though the recovery journey and knows the power of a spiritual awakening. We had such a great conversation, and I loved her wisdom around resentments, and how to release the grip they can have on our lives. Recognizing and releasing resentments is an important part of Soul Recovery, and I now you will be as interested in this topic as I was. Gretchen works one-on-one with
Admitted we were Powerless - that our Lives had Become Unmanageable
Everyday I come back to step 1 of the 12 steps of recovery- Admitted we were powerless (over our addiction) - that our lives had become unmanageable. This speaks to me on so many levels, as an alcoholic, with Al-Anon, as a codependent, and with the world as a whole. But the start of the healing process, the Soul Recovery process comes when we can admit that we are powerless and begin to let go the control go and surrender. When I admitted I was powerless to my addiction and other unhealthy be
Keep the Focus on Yourself and Take Your Power Back
So much of our unhappiness comes from our hurt from the people around us. We want them to be different, we want them to stop pushing our buttons, we want them to act and behave in a way that will be more comfortable for us. In Soul Recovery we talk a lot about letting go of control of others- not always so easy to do. What we can control is ourselves, our responses, or attitudes, our behaviors. When we take our power back by keeping the focus on ourselves and begin to ask and discover why we
Lynda Faires- The Marshall Fire, Loosing her Home and a Spiritual Path to Moving Forward
My Mom's home was one of the 1,000 homes that are now ash from the Marshall Fire in Louisville and Superior Colorado on December 30th, 2021. Her 50 years of Buddhist practice are the foundation she is now using to build a new life for herself. Her wisdom, strength, and allowance of the grieving process are inspirational for anyone who is walking a difficult path. She has taught me, and is
Self-Compassion is a Fundamental Tool in Soul Recovery
Self-Compassion is a fundamental tool in Soul Recovery, however it is not generally our go-to way of treating ourselves. We can be compassionate to our friends who are having a hard time, we can feel compassion for those who have suffered a tragedy, we can feel empathy for an entire nation- but we are generally very hard on ourselves. In this episode I talk about ways to be kind to yourself, and discover the strength that can come from self-compassion.For more information about Rev. Rachel Harri
Welcome to Season 3 of Recover Your Soul
Welcome to 2022 and Season 3 of the Recover Your Soul Podcast. When I took December off and planned for the upcoming season of Recover Your Soul, I had no idea that it would start off the way it has. Radical Forgiveness a Spiritual Opportunity for Healing in Soul Recovery -based on book by Colin Tipping (Replay)
In this replay episode I am going back to season one to talk about Radical Forgiveness. I had just read the book Radical Forgiveness by Colin Tipping and was inspired by this very different way of looking at the resentments and hurts in our lives. In the book the idea is not to "forgive", but to allow us to see that this is part of our learning and growing and that we can find peace and acceptance in the situation and stop telling a victim story. It can be very profound work, and takes courage

Finding Balance in Your Life and Time for Spiritual Growth
When everything went into lock down in March of 2020 it gave me some perspective on how crazy and unbalanced my life was. I used the 'Great Pause' to find myself and rediscover the importance of balance. In this episode I talk about putting yourself on the top of your priority list and making space for spiritual growth and recharging. To be happy and healthy, we need to be balanced- this is not only for the people in our lives, but for ourselves. For more information about Rev. Rachel Harriso

Al-Anon - Being OKAY... Even When Others Are Not
For a long time I wore a badge of honor that read - “I am only as happy as my least happy child”. I took on the responsibility for my children’s happiness, my husband’s happiness and forgot to take responsibility for my own- in this we were all unhappy. Soul Recovery has been a journey of turning the attention to myself and learning to be okay, even when the people I love around me may not be. Soul Recovery has taught me to work on my own life, my own issues and find peace and happiness no matt
A Spiritual Truth - Your Life is What You THINK, FEEL & BELIEVE it is
When our lives are in crisis it can be almost impossible to stop the obsessive thinking about what is going wrong and fear of what may happen. When we begin Soul Recovery, we can start to take responsibility for our thoughts and see that we have some power in how things are going in our lives - just by what we decide to think, feel and believe. If we say that our lives are a 'struggle' we are inviting struggle and hardship into our experience. When we change the narrative in our inner and ou

The Serenity Prayer and Third Step Prayer in Soul Recovery
I have been using the Serenity and Third Step Prayers as part of my Soul Recovery tool box. These prayers are not just for the rooms of 12 step and Al-Anon- these prayers are for anyone interested in a happier and healthier emotional live, otherwise known as Soul Recovery. I still say both of these prayers at least once a day, and in early recovery it was a mantra to get me past complete overwhelm. This episode talks about how these prayers have helped shift and change my life for the better a
Dark Days Will Come, What we Learn from Them, and the Spiritual Path to Peace
Although I have felt happier and mentally healthier since I took the deep dive into Soul Recovery, there are still dark days. We are here to learn, grow and evolve and that includes leaning into the painful feelings of self doubt and sadness. I have recently been on a roller coaster of emotions as I let go of old patters and belief systems that have come up again in my life. I am using the tools of Soul Recovery and self reflection to take responsibility for my emotions, turn the focus on myse
Stop Compairing Yourself to Others and Live YOUR Best Life
As we scroll through Instagram or Facebook we can get caught up feeling like others have it so much better than we do, or that we are not enough. In this episode I talk about the importance of not comparing ourselves to others- either on social media our in our physical lives. We are all unique and amazing and if we decide to be inspired to be more authentically ourselves over feeling resentment and being stuck, we can live our own best life. Letting go of control and taking responsibility for my own happiness has been quite the process- but it is working and miracles are happening in my life. This includes a road trip to California where I camped on the beach with my Son's and our long time family friends, watched my husband surf, and enjoyed the California sun. Stop Talking About What's Not Working
Another tool for your Soul Recovery tool box... Stop Talking About What's Not Working. Our thoughts and words are powerful and when we spend our time complaining about what is not working, we are blocking the new and better things that you are wanting in your life. It is important to be clear about what is not working so you can be clear about what you do want, so spend your time alone or with friends dreaming and creating a life you love. Al-Anon "Just For Today" and Soul Recovery
The Al-Anon principles have been a foundation of my Soul Recovery. In this episode I walk through Al-Anon's 'Just For Today' quotes. Each of these simple messages remind us that just for today we can make different choices in how we relate to those around us, and take better care of ourselves. This is my take on the quotes from my experiences and the Soul Recovery Journey. Law of Attraction and Choosing Happiness
We have a choice to make everyday. Are we going to continue to be frustrated and unhappy with what we don't have, or are we going to choose happiness and visualize and manifest a full and abundant life? Our thoughts are powerful and we create a life that is based on those thoughts, both good and bad. If we have a choice, what will you choose? By understanding and using the law of attraction along with the inner work of Soul Recovery the possibilities are unlimited!!!! What if we were able to l
Seeing Those Who Have Harmed Us as Part of the Journey
What if we were able to let go of the anger and resentment we have of the people in our lives who have harmed us and see those experiences in a new way? What if we are able to recognize that those experiences, even the traumatic ones are part of our journey and were part of what has made us who we are today? Can we take a new look at these experiences, these stories we tell, and see that the people who harmed us were sacred teachers? This can be a really hard idea to take on, but one that may b

Lynda Talks About her Philosophy on parenting and Raising Rachel
If you heard the episode "How a Nice Girl From Oklahoma Became a Buddhist" you have met my Mom Lynda. She and I have had some road trips lately with incredible conversation, and I wanted to give you a taste of her wisdom. When I asked what she wanted to talk about she said " How about raising you?" You Choose Your Attitude, Pick a Good One
How do you keep a good attitude when the world around you is in chaos or not as you wish it would be. I used to tell my boys when they were young " You get to choose your attitude, pick a good one!!" The Spiritual Gift of Not Fixing People
So many of us have been taught that showing love means to be a helper, peace keeper, caretaker... a fixer. However, when we put all our effort on fixing people and the conditions of the world around us, we become unhappy and full of resentment. When we can put on our own spiritual oxygen mask first by turning our focus on ourselves before we focus on fixing others- amazing changes happen in our own life, and then in turn the lives of those around us. Putting Happines First In Our Lives
We often think that the conditions in our life are what need to change for us to be happy. That when we have the right relationship, or the right job we will be happy. What if we put happiness first? When we can let go trying to control the world around us and concentrating on the past a change happens i

One of the many great gifts in my journey of recovery has been 'Finding Me', instead of always thinking in terms of 'we' and 'us'. This healthy detachment has been the foundation of a happier and healthier me. To learn more about Al-Anon visit alanon.org For more information about Rev. Not letting "The Forgetter" get you off track of your recovery
I know that I have a great "forgetter". I can easily forget that this new and wonderful life that I have created from a lot of hard spiritual work, can be easily lost with poor choices. It has been important for me to take time to remember where I have come from so I find myself back there again. For more information about Rev. Traditional forginess often still holds on to strings of being a victim, these stories can keep us stuck and hold us back subconscously. Energies Attract
All physical matter has an energy field, including our emotions and thoughts. We bring to us in physical form that which we are thinking on a mental level, both positive and negative. We can use this truth to begin to make changes in how we use these energies to change our thinking, and draw to us a more prosperous, healthy and happy life. Is It Advice or an Unwanted Opinion?
In my recovery I have realized that I thought I was helping by offering my great advice to friends, family and at work, but I was really giving my unwanted opnion more often than not. What is the difference? Can we learn to pause and notice when our ideas and advice have been requested and let go of needing to be right.

The Moment of Grace - Chris tells his story of relapse and finding his way back to sobriety
A surprise visit from my friend Chris included a honest conversation about his recent relapse. I asked if he would share his story of the moment of Grace that lead him back to himself and the choice of a forever sober life. It is all too easy to step back into old patterns and behaviors when we fall away from our spiritual program and support system letting our unhealthy self take over. Chris is one of the lucky ones that chose to walk back into a life of recovery and to hold onto the life he

Learning to Limit the Negative Content in Your Day
I have made a decision to limit how much news I will watch. In Soul Recovery I have become aware of the powerlessness I have of the world around me and there is so much to be overwhelmed by. I want to be part of the positive change in the world, and to do that I must take care of my self and fill up with content that gives me inspiration and hope. For more information about Rev. Al-Anon Detachment- Letting Go and Finding Peace
Detachment allows us to let go of another's behavior and our feeling the need to fix or change their behaviors. When we can let go and keep the focus on our selves we can find happiness- even when there is chaos around us. This episode talks about detachment from my understanding of it from Al-Anon. I have learned so much in the rooms of Al-Anon as they along with my recovery of alcoholism have been the foundation of what I now call Soul Recovery.IN AL-ANON WE LEARN: • Not to suffer because of

What is mine to do?
In times of a trigger and pain it can be too easy to spend time in blaming others and the desire to take control - but the real healing question is "What is mine to do?" This episode walks through a recent trigger I experienced with my family and the process I went through to let go of the pain.
