In Part 1 of our special two-part look into both Oldboy films, we take a look at the original Chan-Work Park directed Oldboy (2003). An incredibly immersive universe surrounding a man imprisoned for 15 years inside single room, we discuss mental breaks, social deprivation, and the Oedipus complex. Not for the faint of heart, this movie is extremely disturbing. Be cautious.
Oldboy (2003) stars Choi Min-Sik, Yoo Ji-Tae, Gang Hye-Jung, Chi Dae-Han, Oh Dal-Su, Lee Seung-Shin, Kim Byoung-Ok. Directed by Chan-wook Park.
