  • The UK’s Daily Mail is expanding its podcasts into the United States. Head of Podcasts for owner DMG, Jamie East, tells the Podnews Weekly Review that podcasts like The Trial of Diddy are showing that expansion into the US will work well. “We’ve got the facilities to do it, we’ve got the people, we’ve got the willing and the desire.” And, he says, there are wider opportunities, too. “If you’ve got someone based in Melbourne or Sydney, and New York and London, there’s not an hour where where you can’t have a team working away.” The full interview is in the Podnews Weekly Review this week.
  • Max Cutler from PAVE Studios writes that creators are the new Hollywood; with podcasts “officially going mainstream”, YouTube dominating streaming, and engaged communities now directly connected to creators.
  • Audio processing company ai|coustics has launched a new AI model called Lark, which claims “users can elevate their audio to professional-grade quality, using advanced reconstructive technology to repair even the most distorted recordings, restore lost frequencies, and add depth and clarity.”

    • You can try it on their website, so we did - here’s a test file with poor-quality echoey original clips from Zoom, then the Lark-treated audio straight after. By way of comparison, here’s the same thing, but using Adobe Enhance (v1). Ai|coustics sent this better example.
