Hey everyone and welcome to Refinery Life Church.
This week we continue our series titled “The book of Colossians”
A devotional study of the Bible, chapter by chapter and verse by verse, has the potential for bringing great blessings into the lives of those who participate.
These messages from Colossians will take us from now through to the end of the year on Thursday nights.
Today we are talking about The Absolute Supremacy of Jesus Christ.
We are always interested in finding the best.
The one who has supremacy in their field.
Above all this the One who is absolutely supreme is Jesus Christ.
Paul turned from prayer to the magnificent presentation of the preeminence of Christ.
The Colossian heretics had degraded Christ.
They had indicated that He was not unique but just one among many manifestations of God.
They believed that all matter was evil, and therefore Jesus did not have a real manhood.
In the face of this, Paul see out the absolute supremacy of Jesus Christ.
Christianity stands or falls on the fact of the person of Jesus Christ.
Either He is what we have believed, the unique Son of God, or else a gigantic hoax has taken place.
These verses that interrupted a prayer with a presentation bear out that Jesus is what we have believed Him to be, the unique Son of God who has absolute supremacy.
