We hear the heartbreaking stories of children who suffer from diseases, cancers, and other chronic illnesses and the idea of feeling so helpless and if we could, we would take on their disease and their pain. Olivia Gant was that child in pain, and it took her life at only seven short years. Olivia went through numerous surgeries, hospitalizations and endless treatments. Despite all that, she was a very spirited young girl and would scream and fight and say, “I don’t want another owie”! But Olivia should not have another ‘owie’ because she did not have a disease, nor did she have a chronic illness. Rather, her condition was brought on at the hands of her mother and a medical community who failed to report their suspicions.
