The Main Thing Podcast

This special edition of The Main Thing Podcast isn't just about walking down memory lane; it's about distilling life experiences into actionable wisdom for your personal and professional growth. Join me on this edition of “Skip’s Quips” for a powerful exploration of the importance of perspective on our lives and our work.

The Power of Perspective: Insights from a Fast Food Line

Ever wonder how a simple job at a fast-food joint can offer profound lessons in leadership and personal growth? Join me, Skip Lineberg, as I take you on a personal journey through my high school years, where two contrasting fast-food managers taught me invaluable life lessons. Discover how a serendipitous tip led me to Ootsie, a McDonald's manager whose gentle yet firm leadership style left a lasting impression on my approach to work and life.

Through the lens of my youth, we're revisiting pivotal work experiences that highlight the irreplaceable value of a wise and supportive boss. While a stint at the Red Barn under a rigid manager underscored the importance of leadership style, my time with Ootsie at McDonald's revealed the true essence of professional integrity and the true value of examining things from different perspectives.

Where’s the Special Guest and What’s a “Skip’s Quip?"

We are doing something a little different. I’ll be sharing a wisdom lesson with you—but there won’t be a guest. Just me, sharing wisdom. A short wisdom lesson - about 9 minutes total. We plan to do these about 6 times a year. We’re calling these special editions - “Skip’s Quips.”

Don’t worry, we will still bring you wisdom conversations with our special guests twice a month. Additionally, you will receive “Skip’s Quips” to supplement to our regular wisdom programming. Let us know what you think, and please share your feedback. You can do that via SpeakPipe.
