An update on the Immich server with Backblaze b2 storage via rclone-so far very good results! I uploaded my entire 400GB Google Photos takeout to Immich using the immich-go CLI tool, and it has cost me $2/month so far with b2. 18 years of photos and videos, ~30,000 files, and the performance has been great. I cache thumbnails on the local SSD but the raw files (and transcoded videos) are all on backblaze. I have had zero delay opening any files, including videos. Next step is my wife's account!

Live boosting, happy episode! So, I was looking for a way to quickly check if I was connected to Tailscale without using the cli. Not sure you mentioned this before, but I found a useful little app that could be the pick of the week. It's trayscale, and as you might have guessed it's a tray icon for Tailscale (GTK-based). And yes, it's packaged in NixOS 😅

Hey fellas I feel bad for slacking on the boosts.I’ve been spending all my time trying to fundraise and find sponsors for my non-profit to support a high school’s music program. I’ve been saying I need to boost every week and it just slips my mind! When I’m not trying to talk people into giving me their money or doing band stuff I’ve been absorbed playing Elite: Dangerous which is an awesome space sim. for the Sci-Fi shows, my personal favorite is the Expanse. So awesome!

Been running Nextcloud on a Scaleway VPS running Dokku since 2018! Dokku has pre/post deployment hooks, so you can run occ commands without entering the container. I'm using a simple Dockerfile based on the official Apache one. I've run into some upgrade issues through the years, but it's pretty solid in general. And now you reminded me I have to upgrade 😅

Your show is absolutely required in these times! When I started listening years ago your voice of reason was the biggest reason I moved from one side of the political spectrum to the middle and started seeing the bigger picture. I’ve been consuming 20-40 hours a week of political commentary/podcasts from all sides for the last few years and this show is still among the best, if not the best content in that space. LMK anything I can do to make it easier for you to make this show long term.

Thanks for the episode! Although I've never listened to audiobooks, perhaps it's time I gave this a go. Do you have a similar recommendation for ebooks? Is Calibre still the way to go? PS. I'm currently on my way to FOSDEM, too bad Brent won't be here!

first time booster but long time listener here. I just want to say thank you for your quick response on telegram about the Bitcoin node/wallet. also wanted to say thanks to the Bitcoin dad, it was his very first episode that got me into Bitcoin. I also want to thank the JB community and specifically BeardedTek and DPG who are always quick to help. One of these days I hope to attend a meetup. Sending good vibes from O.H.I.O! PS I got 5 years of boosting to catch up on, so stay tuned! 😃

(first message of three. I hope you do the math of the total amount and play the right clip!) I hope this speeds up the 8K milestone a bit 🙂 Btw, I recently installed NixOS plasma on my x260 (new convert, the "propaganda" works 😅). It used to run Arch, and NixOS with its config reminded me of the old rc.conf days! ( I've been an Arch user since 2009 btw) One thing that I miss though is the documentation, which is unfortunately poor.
